Winnipeg BBQ & Blues Festival

Winnipeg, MB (July 8, 2015) – Food and music fans are getting ready for a weekend of lip smackin’ hip shakin’ fun!

The 4th annual Winnipeg BBQ & Blues Festival will take over Smith Street in front of the Burton Cummings Theatre August 21 and 22, 2015 and will feature the best in international, national and local blues performers along with the Winnipeg Free Press “Pit Masters” barbeque competition, food and beverage garden and retail vendors.

Headlining acts will play on the Burton Cummings Theatre stage both nights. Big Sugar will headline on Friday night with David Wilcox taking the big stage on Saturday night. Other main stage acts include Chicago’s Mississippi Heat and modern blues singer, Miss E.C. Scott. The outdoor Festival site will also feature a stage offering hours of entertainment on both days. The outdoor stage line-up includes J.D. Edwards Band, The Crooked Brothers, The Perpetrators, Sol James, The Windups and more.

The Winnipeg Free Press Pit Masters Championship barbeque competition will once again be part of the Festival. It will take place Friday and Saturday with a $10,000 cash purse – one of the largest in Canada. The two-day event is a Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned barbeque competition that is open to amateurs and professionals who will be competing for points and cash prizes. Teams will also compete for a shot at an invitation to the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue Competition in Lynchburg, Tennessee and an invite to the World Food Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Concert passes, which include both outdoor festival site access and reserved seating for headlining concerts at Burton Cummings Theatre are available for $69.50 (2 day pass) or individual day concert passes start at $29.50. Admission to the Festival site only, including the outdoor entertainment, food and beverage garden, BBQ competition and vendor areas, is $10.00 per day. All prices plus fees.

Tickets go on-sale to the general public this Friday, July 10 at 10:00 am.
